HSMSE: An Inside Look
Welcome to HSMSE!
Welcome to the High School for Math, Science, and Engineering at CCNY.
Most HSMSE classes are held in Baskerville Hall.
Students use the Nat Holman Gymnasium for physical education and other activities.
The Nat Holman Gymnasium
North Academic Building
Students may eat outdoors or in the North Academic Building, known as "the NAC."
The CCNY quad offers outdoor space when the weather is good.
At the end of sophomore year, students declare concentrations in Math, Advanced Engineering, or the Mount Sinai School of Medicine Biomedical Research Program. Juniors and seniors in the Mount Sinai concentration spend half of each day at Mt. Sinai hospital, doing biomedical research and/or shadowing physicians.
The Great Hall
HSMSE holds some events, including graduation, in Shepard Hall's Great Hall.
Edwin H. Blashfield's mural "The Graduate" offers a fitting backdrop for graduation each spring.
Gastronomy and EatNYC
Students in the Gastronomy elective and the EatNYC club study the aesthetic, ethical, environmental and health implications of our food choices.
Gastronomy students learn by tasting.
The Roofpod Garden
In spring 2016, HSMSE and the Spitzer School of Architecture received a two-hundred thousand dollar urban agriculture grant to extend and develop our RoofPod garden.

The Cross Country Team
HSMSE students compete in several PSAL leagues and also participate in sports clubs.
HSMSE Girls Soccer
Girls Varsity Soccer claimed the PSAL B Division Championship for 2014-2015. The Softball team won the PSAL championship in 2015-16.
The Dance Crew
Many HSMSE students have strong interests in the arts, including dance, music, and the visual arts.

Students, faculty, and administrators work together to plan a variety of activities during the year, including Oktoberfest, an annual talent show, Spirit Week, the prom, and Oasis Week.
Oktoberfest celebrates the school's German language program.
Every spring, HSMSE seniors celebrate at their prom.
The 2016 Prom Queen and Prom King with Ms. Boylan
Oasis Week helps students relax during final exams.
HSMSE students travel for sports competitions, field trips, college visits, and other activities. In the fall of 2016, the freshman class visited the Tappan Zee Bridge to learn about the construction of the New Tappan Zee Bridge.

When HSMSE students graduate, they're prepared for the challenges ahead. We send them off with hugs . . .
and with a few tears.
Thank you for visiting!
