Welcome to HSMSE
The High School for Math, Science and Engineering at City College (HSMSE), one of New York City's eight specialized public high schools, offers an unparalleled college-level education to extraordinary students from across the five boroughs. The school was founded in 2002 as a partnership between NYC Public Schools and The City College of New York, and it has been recognized year after year for its rigorous academics and deep commitment to community and student well-being.
Every course at HSMSE is taught at the honors, college, or AP level, and all students complete a STEM sequence with a focus on mathematics, science, engineering, or medicine through our partnership with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. HSMSE's location, on CCNY's historic upper Manhattan campus, is the ideal setting for a school focused on inquiry, critical thinking and collaboration. Each September, we welcome students from every borough and background, and after four years, they leave as more knowledgeable, thoughtful, persuasive citizens who are ready to continue their education in some of the country's most prestigious universities and beyond.

The High School for Math, Science and Engineering at The City College of New York challenges talented students to reach their full potential: to develop habits of inquiry, expression and critical thinking; to be problem seekers and problem solvers; to view the world though different perspectives; to engage fully in their community; and to imagine the unimaginable.
OUR HOME
HSMSE gives high school students an early taste of college life: Most classes are taught in Baskerville Hall, on the northern end of CCNY's campus in upper Manhattan, but students have access to the college cafeteria, gym, library and other facilities. Juniors and seniors enrolled in HSMSE's biomedical concentration spend half of the school day in research labs and on clinical rotations at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
