Special Education
HSMSE's special education department supports students with Individualized Education Programs and works to accommodate those students' needs through support from HSMSE's Special Education Teacher Team and other Department of Education's Related Service Providers.
Section 504 of The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 requires public schools to offer accommodations for eligible students with disabilities. These accommodations help students with special needs participate in New York City Department of Education programs and activities on an equal basis with their peers.
