OPEN HOUSE AND ENROLLMENT AT HSMSE
Annual Fall Open House
HSMSE has an annual FALL OPEN HOUSE intended for families of 8th grade students. This is a big event held in the evening. Families have opportunities to speak with students, parents and faculty. In addition, families can attend CCNY’s beautiful Great Hall and hear about our school community and curriculum; the presentation is delivered by the high school administration team. Many families also opt in to see a tour of Baskerville Hall - where HSMSE holds all academic classes.
Annual Spring Open House
During the Spring Admissions Season, HSMSE holds an annual Accepted Students Open House, usually taking place in March or early April. This is a smaller invite-only event intended for Families of students that received an offer to attend HSMSE.
How do students get offers to HSMSE?
To gain admission to any of New York City’s specialized high schools, students are required to sit for the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT). For families new to this process, please be advised that enrollment offers are based solely on this exam, which is administered annually—typically in October—to students in the 8th or 9th grade.
